Get Vaccinated You Fools!

It seems almost bizarre that almost two years into this unprecedented crisis, there still seems to be some argument over the vaccines. I do understand that initially there was some concern as well as reluctance that the lasting side effects of a vaccine created in record time could or might have on people (although the theories thrown around were utterly potty) but surely now, over a year into the vaccination program around the world, there can be no doubt on its safety. So then what seems to be the issue?

A lot of people since the vaccine was first given have turned around and said ‘well its not effective as people can get Covid anyway’. Hence, what is the point of it if you are going to be infected? Well again, at the outset this seems like a logic point until you realise that Covid is killing people and has killed people in their drones. Millions of drones. In some countries you will never know the scale of death fully. Hence a vaccinate which can aid you from well, not dying from this disease, surely is useful no? It might not prevent you from getting the virus but it will allow you to have less symptoms and recover from it quickly. Again, two years into this, I cannot see how a debate on this is called for or even necessary?

So then again what is driving the reluctance? America and the UK are seeing droves of cases again in 2022, spurred by a more infectious variant but hospitalisations and serious illness seems to be limited to those who are not vaccinated. To add to these people’s insanity, they are also the same people who refuse to wear a mask, will not sop congregating in crowds and believe the whole thing to be a hoax. This is the devils subset indeed.

It is beginning to be clear that until we are all vaccinated there is no let up here. New variants will keep coming as the virus has more and more time to mutate. This usually means the severity is reduced but in Omnicron’s case, the infectivity is heightened and so we are now seeing record cases across the world. Vaccine inequality is a huge issue and hopefully the larger more developed nations will increase supplies to the less fortunate countries to balance this out so this mass of unvaccinated blobs who will soon be left as the only bastions of absurdity spreading and infecting the rest of us. Sadly this remains one of the largest issues within this crisis and one that no one has answers to.
